Social Applications Watch / Applications
Zanaadu has opened its BSV Blockchain-based social platform to the public following a private-beta period that began in December 2025.
The application allows users to publish posts and send paid upvotes through a connected BSV wallet. Its current public interface requires a compatible wallet before a user can enter the platform and describes each upvote as a direct peer-to-peer payment to the content creator.
Zanaadu is led by Ben Swan and built by developer John Calhoun. Rather than placing content on-chain while retaining engagement rules and accounting on company-controlled servers, the project is designed to enforce parts of its social and economic logic through Bitcoin Script covenants.
According to Calhoun, post, upvote, and engagement counts are derived from blockchain state. The intended result is that independently operated overlay services can process the same transactions and arrive at the same engagement figures rather than relying exclusively on numbers supplied by Zanaadu’s central interface.
The application includes a “verify on chain” function intended to let users inspect the underlying activity associated with displayed counts. CoinGeek also reports that the project’s contracts are publicly available and that independent operators can run compatible overlays.
Identity is organized around numbered user identifiers such as @1, @2, and @3. These identifiers are issued on a first-come, first-served basis and linked to an identity’s originating transaction. The project describes them as transferable on-chain assets rather than usernames that the platform can later withdraw or reassign.
The underlying identity design reportedly uses a 256-bit Sparse Merkle Tree combined with covenant-enforced user-number rules. Zanaadu’s longer-term objective is for the same identity to remain usable across other compatible applications rather than being confined to one social platform.
Users can also lock satoshis to a post until a selected time. The lock is enforced through Bitcoin Script, meaning the release condition is contained in the transaction rather than represented only by an internal platform balance or database promise.
The public interface currently directs new users toward Metanet Client. CoinGeek reports additional compatibility with BRC-100 wallets including Yours Wallet and BSV Desktop or BSV Browser. Wallet support and the onboarding experience may continue to change during the beta period.
Zanaadu remains an early-stage platform. Its public opening establishes that the application and its principal transaction flows are available for users to test, but it does not yet demonstrate broad participation, durable social activity, or independently measured reliability at scale.
BSV TIMES read:
Zanaadu’s more important proposition is not simply that social posts can be recorded on BSV Blockchain. It is the attempt to place engagement rules, creator payments, identity ownership, and verifiable counts within the transaction architecture itself. That could allow multiple interfaces and overlay operators to interpret the same public state without one company remaining the sole authority over users, identities, or engagement records. Whether that architecture becomes meaningful will depend on usability and participation, but the public beta provides a working environment in which the model can now be tested.
