A new hardware signing option built specifically for BSV Blockchain has arrived with PiWalletSV, an open-source project that combines Raspberry Pi hardware with a companion browser application.
The signing device is designed to remain offline, with no Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or Ethernet connection. The companion application on a phone or computer handles the online side of the transaction, while unsigned and signed transaction data move between the two devices through animated QR codes. Private signing keys remain on the Raspberry Pi rather than being exposed to the connected device.
PiWalletSV goes beyond simply isolating the keys. Before signing, the device can independently verify transaction inputs using BEEF transaction data, Merkle proofs and block-header anchors supplied through the companion.
The project has also published its derivation rules, QR transport format and SPV requirements as an open specification, allowing other developers to build compatible signing devices or companion applications.
The hardware is based on commonly available components rather than proprietary equipment, and the software is open source. Users can assemble a device themselves, while the project has also offered limited preassembled kits. CoinGeek reported on August 11 that the first small batch of ten kits sold out within days.
PiWalletSV remains a beta project and has not undergone an independent security audit, an important distinction from a mature commercial hardware product.

PiWalletSV is still a small community-built project, but it addresses a practical gap in BSV Blockchain’s supporting infrastructure. More significant than the size of its first production run is the architecture behind it: offline signing, an open transaction protocol, SPV-oriented verification and hardware that developers can inspect or reproduce themselves. It is another example of infrastructure around the network being built from the application layer outward.
