Doug Liman’s Bitcoin Adds India Distribution as 2026 Release Signals Reappear

Doug Liman’s upcoming feature film Bitcoin, formerly known as Killing Satoshi, has gained another piece of its international distribution picture, while a separate recent media reference has revived the possibility that audiences could see the film before the end of 2026.

Neither development amounts to an official release-date announcement. Together, however, they provide the clearest new movement since the film’s Cannes-market sales activity earlier this year.

PVR INOX Pictures Acquires Bitcoin for India

The most concrete update comes from India.

PVR INOX Pictures, the distribution arm associated with India’s large PVR INOX cinema network, acquired Bitcoin: Killing Satoshi at the Cannes film market in May, according to recent industry coverage examining the company’s international film acquisitions.

That adds India to the film’s known distribution footprint.

Earlier Cannes reporting confirmed that Sun Distribution had taken rights to Bitcoin for Latin America, Spain and South Africa. The additional PVR INOX Pictures acquisition shows that the film’s international sales activity extended beyond the territories previously highlighted in BSV TIMES coverage.

The development is especially notable because Bitcoin has still not entered a conventional public release campaign. There is no official trailer or announced theatrical date, yet distribution arrangements are gradually becoming visible territory by territory.

A 2026 Release Signal Reappears

A separate August 23 article from Collider provides a smaller but interesting timing signal.

While discussing Gal Gadot’s upcoming projects, Collider says that later this year she will appear in Doug Liman’s AI-powered Bitcoin, alongside Casey Affleck and Pete Davidson.

The wording is noteworthy because it points toward a 2026 appearance for the film.

It should not, however, be read as confirmation of a release date. Collider does not specify a month, quarter, premiere, theatrical rollout or streaming plan, and there has been no corresponding announcement from the filmmakers or distributors.

For that reason, BSV TIMES is treating the reference as a release signal rather than a release announcement.

2026 or 2027 Remains Unsettled

The new Collider wording also creates an interesting contrast with another public listing BSV TIMES has been following.

French film database AlloCiné continues to list Bitcoin: Killing Satoshi as a 2027 production and describes it as coming soon to theaters, while providing no specific theatrical release date.

That listing has never been enough to establish that the film was officially delayed until 2027. The newer Collider reference now reinforces the need to keep both indicators provisional.

At present, the public information points in two directions: one entertainment outlet casually places the film later in 2026, while a major French film database continues to classify it under 2027.

Until the production or a distributor announces a date, neither should be treated as definitive.

North American Rights Still Remain a Watch Item

The North American distribution question also remains unresolved publicly.

Following Cannes, Screen Daily reported that Warner Bros Clockwork was in exclusive talks with Patrick Wachsberger’s 193 to acquire North American rights to Bitcoin. No completed North American acquisition has subsequently been publicly confirmed in the latest reporting reviewed by BSV TIMES.

That leaves the film with a gradually emerging international footprint but without a complete public distribution map.

The pattern is nevertheless becoming clearer. Bitcoin moved from production into Cannes-market sales, secured international territory interest, and is now appearing in additional distributor records while media references begin pointing again toward a possible 2026 arrival.

This is a modest update, but a useful one.

The most important new information is not speculation about whether the film will appear in the fourth quarter of 2026. It is the confirmation that PVR INOX Pictures acquired the film for India, adding another significant market to the distribution picture.

Collider’s “later this year” reference is worth recording because release information around Bitcoin remains unusually sparse. But without an official date, it should remain exactly what it is: an indication that some media sources still expect the film in 2026.

The contrast with AlloCiné’s 2027 listing makes the current position especially interesting. Rather than choosing one unofficial signal over another, the more useful approach is to watch for the milestone that will settle the question: an announcement from the production, sales company or distributor.
