Universal Plastic has deployed Onda, a platform built on BSV Blockchain that turns ocean-bound plastic recovery into a fully traceable, verifiable data stream. Ocean defenders use the Onda app to photograph collected plastic; computer vision and AI analyze the type, volume, and location; and the data is immutably recorded on the BSV blockchain, creating verifiable digital assets representing real environmental impact.

The Problem

Companies funding plastic recovery have historically had no tamper-proof way to verify that collection actually happened, where it happened, or how much was recovered. ESG reporting has relied largely on manual verification and self-reported data.

The Infrastructure

Onda creates a chain of custody from collection to corporate ESG report. Each collection event is timestamped, geolocated, and notarized on-chain. Digital Measurement Reports are generated automatically and can be independently verified by partner companies.

Why BSV

Universal Plastic evaluated multiple blockchains. The deciding factors were scalability for global data volumes, low fees for image logging and timestamping, and protocol stability. The founder’s assessment: without BSV, achieving the same efficiency “would take 20 more years.”
