Tools that outlive the company

The practical edge since the last check is less about new TPS claims and more about what still works when an app or service goes away.

LocalBSV has framed the LBSX Desktop Wallet around that problem: keys, assets, liquidity, and tools held by the user rather than locked inside a single platform. The pitch is blunt — businesses shut down, developers move on — so peer-to-peer trading, minting, and pool management should not depend on one operator staying online. That sits next to the continuing push for wallets to actually recognize BSV-21 UTXOs instead of burning them through untested sweeps.

On the protocol side, the argument against chain scanning is getting sharper. Project Babbage is stressing that SPV needs Merkle proofs, that peer-to-peer delivery (including BRC-29 paths over text, email, relay, NFC, or radio) scales better than a trusted indexer watching every address, and that a progressive deprecation of chain-scanned address flows is under consideration. Related material points at scalable, distributed proof acquisition without a central planner.

Teranode’s complementary picture remains specialised overlays on a shared backbone: bank, enterprise, and app-specific nodes via SPV, rather than one monolithic client for every use case. UTXO lock records and two-phase commit continue to be the concurrency story underneath that design.

The current pulse is about durability: wallets and delivery paths that still function when the company that shipped them does not.
