Hash acceleration, pool shards, and sub-20ms overlays

The practical edge since the last check is operational rather than visionary: a Teranode beta release, liquidity-pool engineering under load, and measured overlay latency.

Teranode v0.16.1-beta-4 adds CPU-assisted SHA-256 hashing where supported processor instructions are available, with the caveat that any efficiency gain depends on workload and is not presented as a measured overall throughput jump. The same release tightens recovery so certain worker failures can be contained without killing the node process, and adds monitoring metrics plus stronger transaction-validation safeguards. Subtree arithmetic from the prior days remains the capacity framing: roughly a million transactions per subtree, baseline one subtree per second, hundreds of subtrees in a ten-minute block with no hard size cap.

On the application side, LocalBSV has been stress-testing UTXO-based sharded liquidity pools — non-custodial, with the hard part described as tracking many peers as many shards (inputs and outputs scaling with pool size), then multiplying across pools. Live test activity and swap-engine demos are being used to show the transaction volume that design implies, not only a UI refresh.

Overlay networking continues to move from concept to measured paths. LightBSV reports TCP/IP packets over BEEF overlays, SPV-verified on-chain end to end in under 20 milliseconds, plus ongoing work on a globally scalable BSV multicast design. That sits next to the still-active push to retire full-chain scanning (BRC-234 and related Wallet/Overlay dependency cleanup) so apps do not depend on zero-cost indexers forever.

The current pulse is about hardening and measurement: hash paths and recovery on the node, shard math in pools, and millisecond-class proof of overlay delivery.
